In "Primate," college student Lucy returns to her family’s luxurious Hawaiian home for a vacation with friends Kate and Hannah. The idyllic setting takes a dark turn when their pet chimpanzee, Ben, is bitten by a rabid animal and becomes dangerously aggressive. As the group grapples with the escalating threat posed by Ben, they must navigate their relationships and confront the terrifying reality of their situation. With Lucy's deaf father Adam and younger sister Erin also in the mix, the film explores themes of family and survival amidst chaos. While the human characters may lack depth, Ben the chimp steals the spotlight, leading to a gripping fight for survival against a backdrop of tropical beauty turned nightmarish.
